The Wednesday Mini Market officially begins the first Wednesday of June and runs weekly through August, 10am-2pm under Pavilion 2. The mid-week market offers a chance to get outside for a breath fresh air and a chance to shop fresh produce.

“We’ve enjoyed a soft opening the past few Wednesdays welcoming vendors with bedding plants, herbs, produce and farm fresh eggs, and we’re off to a good start,” says Ajani Nosakhere. City Market’s new assistant Farmers Market manager, “As a farmer myself, it’s great to be able to bring produce to a bustling market surrounded by people who know and value the importance of locally-grown food.”

A much smaller version of the weekend Farmers Market, the Wednesday Mini Market features a limited selection of specialty and urban farmers as well as local makers including youth vendors ages 5-18. A convenient lunchtime shopping solution, downtown residents, and workers can grab lunch at a favorite City Market restaurant and pick up fresh, healthy, fruits, veggies, flowers, baked goods and more all in one stop. Plenty of seating and shade is available to enjoy lunch and buskers (street musicians) who add to the relaxing open-air atmosphere.

The USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are accepted and Double Up Bucks matches up to $15 per day. City Market is on the KC Streetcar route. 2-hour parking inside City Market Square at 5th & Walnut is FREE; surrounding City Market parking lots are $1 per hour.

The Wednesday Mini Market is sponsored in part by Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund (NTDF) administered by the City of Kansas City, Missouri, as well as AgriMissouri.

In addition to the Wednesday Mini Market, City Market operates the region’s largest Farmers Market open Saturdays and Sundays year-round and more than 30 shops and restaurants offering specialty food items, gifts and much more. One of the oldest business centers in the city, City Market has served as a springboard for small business in the community for more than 160 years.
