Open Daily and featuring an eclectic mix of dining, shopping, entertainment and attractions in a unique open-air setting, the City Market offers visitors a variety of fresh produce, meat & seafood, specialty groceries, flowers and gift items from nearby farms and around the world. Steeped in over 150 years of tradition, the City Market offers shoppers the opportunity to purchase the best of the heartland direct from producers. The City Market has an extensive calendar, hosting concerts, festivals and other special events April through December.

Our society has become far removed from the people who produce our food. Take the opportunity to ask your farmer or vendor for suggestions on ways to best to enjoy the local bounty.

What should you ask?

  • How should I store the produce to keep it fresh and full of flavor?
  • Do you have any suggestions for cleaning and preparation?
  • How much longer will this crop be in season?
  • What unusual products will you be bringing to the Farmers' Market in the coming weeks?

You will leave the City Market with the knowledge you need to fully enjoy your fresh produce and look forward to next week.

The City Market needs volunteers to help in a variety of ways.

Email Anthony Butler or call our Managment Office to learn more about volunteer opportunities.

As the farmers’ market brings us closer to the farm, we can begin to understand the uncertainties of food production. What are some surprises that you might expect?

  • Particular products and crops may come and go at the City Market quite quickly. If you see something at the Market this week, now is the time to buy it! Be sure to ask; it may be on its way out of season.

  • Available quantities will change weekly. A sudden burst of warm weather may bring in a bumper crop this week and a cool or rainy spell could delay harvest of your favorite products. Just as quantities will vary, so will prices.

  • Prices at the City Market are set by supply and demand. Take advantage of specials and over-abundant crops.

CITY MARKET DOG POLICY

Please note that due to a city ordinance the City Market rules concerning dogs are as follows:

Within the City Market Square, pavilions, tenant walkways, stores & offices dogs are not allowed at all times. This is to maintain the health & safety of food products and for Market patrons. This includes dogs being held by hand as well. Dogs serving in official ADA capacity are exempt from this policy.

In the City Market Park please remember that dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. Also, please remember that it is the owners' responsibility to clean up after their dog as well. For your convenience, waste stations are provided in the park. If bags are unavailable, please provide your own. While we strive to provide the convenient service of keeping bags stocked at all times, it is a good idea to bring some with you just in case. This is so the entire public may enjoy the City Market Park.

Thank You!
